Principal Attorney & Founder

Robert Alexander is the Principal Attorney and Founder of Vanguard Advocates, a Chicago-based law firm representing individuals and families in criminal defense, DUI, traffic, and family law matters throughout Chicagoland.

A graduate of Morehouse College and DePaul University College of Law, Robert was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 2018 and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Robert's path to the law was not a traditional one. After law school, he followed a lifelong passion for the culinary arts, working as a line cook and pastry chef before returning to the legal profession. Those experiences shaped the values he brings to every case: preparation, discipline, attention to detail, and hard work.

Today, Robert represents clients in courtrooms across the Chicago area and is known for providing practical guidance, clear strategy, and strong courtroom advocacy when the stakes are high.

In addition to his legal practice, Robert is committed to mentorship, legal education, and community engagement. He serves as Co-Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section Criminal Law Committee and has presented continuing legal education programs on criminal-records relief and domestic relations issues. He regularly mentors aspiring legal professionals through internships, mock trial programs, and community-based initiatives.

Robert has been selected to Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars from 2023 through 2026.
